Book Trail: Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

January of 2020, I was recommended this book, and I read it twice, consecutively. And then again a year later. With every word (a riveting audio book actually), wheels turned, which led to me making different choices. Without a shred of doubt, I grew because of this book.

When covid arrived two months later, I applied the principles (acquire assets and decrease liabilities), leading me to own real estate in the years since, which allowed more choice at my exit from medicine.

Financial intelligence is a pillar in this process of building a life we love.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the read 🙂

  1. That is definitely a good book to get your financial wheels turning. There is a lot of evidence that most of the compelling human story of the book is fabricated, but it is a very effective vehicle for communicating the basic knowledge it teaches about assets and liabilities. For me it was an impulse buy at Walmart, and it piqued my interest in finance so that I started to read other sources. White Coat Investor has a good and nuanced review of this book, and also a list of better books to read once you are interested in finance. Right now I am reading “A Random Walk Down Wall Street” by Burton Malkiel, which is fantastic.

    1. That’s good to know, wasn’t aware of that backstory. The foundation knowledge it imparts has been transformational. I agree with your assessment there as a gateway into other sources. The White Coat Investor is awesome and honest, very much appreciate him. I’ll have to give “A Random Walk Down Wall Street” a read. Thanks for the recommendation.
